THE ARBOR wins Best Cinema Documentary at 2011 Grierson Trust Awards. Out Of The Ashes also wins Best Newcomer documentary.

The Arbor won again last night, adding to the film and director Clio Barnard's impressive haul of awards. Grierson 2011: The British Documentary Awards awarded The Arbor Best Cinema Documentary, and there was also a Best Newcomer Documentary award for Out Of The Ashes.

The Grierson Awards recognise and celebrate documentaries from Britain and abraod that have made a significant contribution to the genre and that demonstrate quality, integrity, creativity, originality and overall excellence.
On The Arbor, jury chairman Mandy Chang summed up the jurors thoughts saying: "The Arbor ambushes you in a good way. This is a moving and truly original film whose courageous creative approach makes a lasting impact."
The Arbor: The powerful true story of Bradford playwright Andrea Dunbar (The Arbor, Rita, Sue and Bob Too) and her troubled relationship with her daughter Lorraine. Directed by artist and director Clio Barnard; The Arbor is a captivating and revelatory piece of cinema.
Out Of The Ashes: Against a back drop of war and poverty Afghan Cricket Club: Out of the Ashes traces the extraordinary journey of a team of young Afghan men as they chase a seemingly impossible dream, shedding light on a nation beyond burqas, bombs, drugs and devastation.
