LAS ACACIAS wins the Sutherland Award at the London Film Festival
27/10/2011
Las Acacias director Pablo Giorgelli followed up his award at Cannes by winning the prestigious Sutherland Award at the London Film Festival last night. A fantastic achievement for Giorgelli, whose film continues to win awards as well as high praise. See the BFI website here . See our Las Acacias page on this site for information, where you can see the film, and view the trailer!
The Sutherland award is given for the most and imaginative feature debut in the festival. The jury for the award said: "In a lively and thoughtful jury room debate, Las Acacias emerged as a worthy winner, largely because of the originality of its conception. Finely judged performances and a palpable sympathy for his characters makes this a hugely impressive debut for director Pablo Giorgelli."
It is the second year running the award has been given to a director of a film distributed by Verve Pictures, following the success for Clio Barnard (The Arbor) in 2010.
