IONA - ON DVD NOW

The closing night film of the 2015 Edinburgh International Film Festival, Scott Graham's followup to Shell is another poignant, beautifully shot Scottish independent drama starring Ruth Negga (Preacher, Loving) and Douglas Henshall (Shetland, Outlander).

Iona and her teenage son Bull seek refuge among a Christian community on the island where she was born. Trapped in a small, traditional way of life, their return exposes her tormented son to an existence she rejected when she herself chose to leave the island as a teenager. As she watches Bull seek forgiveness from the violent act that forced them back to the island, Iona must struggle to come to terms with her faith and the illicit relationship with the man who raised her.
